Introduction

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhilai was established in the state of Chhattisgarh by Ministry of Human Resource and Development in the year 2016.

IIT Bhilai is presently housed in its transit campus at Government Engineering College (GEC) Raipur, Chhattisgarh.

IIT Bhilai offers Bachelor of Technology (BTech), Master of Technology (MTech), Master of Science (MSc) and Doctoral programs (PhD) in various departments. The Institute made its modest start with introduction of BTech program in August 2016. The Institute is currently offering BTech and MTech programs in the departments of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Electrical Engineering (EE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DSAI), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering (MSME), Mechatronics Engineering and Electric Vehicle Technology (EVT, MTech); and PhD program in the departments of Chemistry (CHM), Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Electrical Engineering (EE), Mathematics (MTH), Mechanical Engineering (ME), Bioscience and Biomedical Engineering (BSBME), Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DSAI), Electric Vehicle Technology (EVT), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering (MSME), Mechatronics Engineering, Physics (PHY) and Liberal Arts (LA).

IIT Bhilai has established a 3-D Printing Lab that constitutes an integral part of 3-D Modeling and Design course, a fabrication lab, an electrical lab, a computer lab and a library in a short duration.

Raipur, capital city of Chhattisgarh, also has IIIT, NIT, IIM and AIIMS. It is one of the fastest developing states in India.

Admission Procedure

IIT Bhilai admission to its 20 UG, PG, and Ph.D. courses is based on scores obtained in various national-level entrance exams. Admission to IIT Bhilai’s flagship B.Tech program is based on the JEE Advanced rank followed by JoSAA counseling. The eligible students should register for the JoSAA counseling for their seat allocation after the result declaration of JEE Advanced. The total fee for the IIT Bhilai B.Tech program is INR 4.9 Lacs. IIT Bhilai also offers admission to PG courses such as M.Tech, M.Sc, etc. To secure a seat in these popular programs, students should obtain valid scores in the national level entrance exams such as IIT JAM, and GATE, followed by the PI round. 

Along with the UG and PG programs, IIT Bhilai provides Ph.D. programs under various disciplines. Shortlisting criteria for Ph.D. admission is done on the basis of an entrance exam conducted by the institute followed by a PI round. However, candidates having valid scores in GATE/ CEED/ UGC/ CSIR Exams are also considered eligible for IIT Bhilai Ph.D. program.

ENTRANCE EXAMS 2023

IIT Bhilai admission takes place based on the scores/ranks secured in entrance exams like JEE Advanced for BTech course, GATE for MTech course, IIT JAM for MSc and NET/GATE for PhD specializations.

• Selection of candidates is purely based on marks scored in JEE Advanced for the year 2023. 
• For M.Tech selection of candidates is based on a valid score in GATE / NET exams
• For the final selection candidates must hold a valid GATE score /NET, Only selected candidates will then be called for a written test/ interview. Alternatively, candidates can hold the below requirements to be eligible for IIT Bhilai PhD admission. 
• Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) of CSIR/ UGC/ NBHM/ DBT/ ICAR/ ICMR/ ICPR/DST/SERB or DST INSPIRE Fellowship.
• Minimum of 2 years of professional experience. The experience gained while acquiring a Master's Degree in Engineering/Technology or experience acquired after obtaining the qualifying degree and completed before the starting of the semester in which admission is sought may be considered professional experience.
• BTech from IIT with a CPI/CGPA of 8.0 or more.

UG ADMISSION 2023

IIT Bhilai offers a four-year UG course in BTech. Admission to this course is entrance-based. Students can check their eligibility and appear for the exam and get qualifying scores in order to get admission.Candidates aspiring to pursue B.Tech courses at the institute must fulfill the eligibility criteria of clearing JEE Main and then qualifying for and clearing JEE Advanced with the required cut-off ranks/scores. UG Admission Eligibility Criteria

• Class 12 with 75% aggregate in PCM as compulsory subjects.
• Students can apply after successful completion of 10+2 with the required score from science stream and a recognised university.
• Students are required to clear the JEE Main and qualify for JEE Advanced  which they need to clear to be granted admission.

IIT Bhilai offers two PG courses in the field of Science and Engineering. PROCESS ADMISSION 2023

IIT Bhilai provides undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctorate courses, and students are trained and guided under expert supervision. Scholarships

Indian Institute of Technology, [IIT] Bhilai provides scholarships and awards to outstanding students to support their academic excellence. They believe that scholarships and awards are a means of support and recognition that encourage students to fulfil their potential. IIT Bhilai offers various scholarships to both undergraduate and postgraduate students. More information about the IIT Bhilai scholarships are given below.

Merit-cum-Means Scholarship

• Only undergraduate students in the UR and OBC categories are eligible for the IIT Bhilai scholarship.
• A maximum of 25% of the students can be considered for rewards.
• Other economically disadvantaged students (with a family income of between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 5 lakh per annum) who receive a 2/3rd tuition fee remission will be entitled to 1/3rd tuition reimbursement every semester plus Rs. 1000 per month in pocket money.
• For UR students, parental income cannot exceed Rs. 5 lakhs, and for OBC students, it cannot exceed Rs. 6 lakhs.
• To be eligible for the Indian Institute of Technology Bhilai scholarship, students must maintain a minimum CGPA of 6.0.

Institute Scholarship for SC/ST

• All undergraduate students of the SC and ST categories can apply for the scholarship.
• IIT Bhilai students will get free messing, boarding and pocket money of INR 250 per month.
• Annual parental income must not exceed Rs. 4.5 lakhs.
• To be eligible for the scholarship, students must maintain a CGPA of at least 6.0.

Institute Scholarship for Free Studentship

• 10% of undergraduate students will get a free studentship scholarship.
• Students with family income between INR 1 lakh to INR 5 lakh per annum who avail of 2/3rd tuition fee remission will be eligible for 1/3rd reimbursement per semester.
• Students should have a minimum CGPA of 6.0 to avail the benefits of the IIT Bhilai scholarship.

Fellowships for Postgraduate Students 

• M.Tech students will get a paid fellowship for a maximum of 21 months by institute those who have valid GATE scores.
• PhD students will get a fellowship from the institute for 3 years.
