International Placement Offers
Companies from various countries, along with companies from India, participate in the placement drive of IIT Guwahati. During 2019- 2020 placements, the students of IIT Guwahati received as many as 49 International placement offers. But due to the covid pandemic and travel restrictions, the total international placement offers received by students has decreased to six, during 2020- 2021 placements.
Scholarship
IIT Guwahati awards scholarships to its undergraduate and postgraduate students to recognise academic excellence, overall growth and development of deserving students. The scholarships are awarded based on the recommendations of the scholarship committee of the institute. More details regarding the IIT Guwahati scholarship are mentioned below.
Institute Merit Scholarship: The Institute Merit Scholarship (IMS) is accessible to B.Tech, B.Des, M.Sc, and MA students. It is awarded from the second year onwards to the year-wise class toppers of all streams.
Institute Merit-cum-Means (McM) Scholarships: These are provided on a merit-cum-means basis to up to 25% of non-SC, ST students pursuing B.Tech, B.Des, M.Sc and MA degrees at the institute. SC and ST scholarships are provided to all SC students with a specific income level.
Student Travel Assistance Fund: The Student Travel Assistance Fund (STAF) aims to assist deserving students in attending and presenting at national and international conferences, workshops, symposia, scientific meetings, and other events.
The Student Contingency Fund (SCF): IIT Guwahati provides financial help to students who face unforeseen challenges during their time, such as a major accident, illness, or family calamity.
Student Childcare Assistance Fund: The Student Childcare Assistance Fund (SCAF) is for married student parents who have difficulty paying for their child's or children's education.
Students Brotherhood Fund (SBF): It offers "Loans of Honor" (interest-free loans that must be repaid) to meritorious student applicants to help them pay for their educational or medical expenditures.
Special Scholarships: The Director of the institute may delegate the authority to offer special scholarships to a maximum of 5 students per year based on need. While it is conceivable to award all five scholarships in a given year in eligible situations, it is also possible that none will be awarded. If the institute's legislation or rules allow it, students may apply for Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati scholarships from outside government and non-government organisations (such as central sector scholarship schemes, scholarships from state Govts., scholarships from private trusts etc.).
Assistantships: Assistantships are given to all regular students of M.Tech, M. Des, and Ph.D. programs.
