About Us

Introduction

Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi (IIIT-Delhi) was created by an act of Delhi legislature empowering it to carry out R&D, conduct educational programs, and grant degrees. The General Council is the apex body of the Institute, chaired by Hon'ble Lt. Governor of Delhi and the Board of Governors is the policy and decision-making body of the Institute. The Senate is empowered to take all academic decisions.

IIIT-Delhi is accelerating on the path of becoming one of the leading comprehensive research-led teaching institutes in India and has proven to be consistently responsive towards the evolving needs of society. The faculty members at IIIT-Delhi are among the finest in the country and are internationally recognized. Carrying out cutting-edge research is in the institutional DNA of IIIT-Delhi.

IIIT-Delhi has six academic departments - Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computational Biology, Human-Centred Design, Mathematics, and Social Sciences & Humanities. Its research centres include the Infosys Centre for Artificial Intelligence, Centre for Computational Biology, Centre for Design and New Media - supported by the TCS Foundation, Centre of Technology in Policing, Centre of Sustainable Mobility, Centre of Excellence for Lifi/VLC, and Centre of Excellence in Healthcare.

IIIT-Delhi has set-up the Technology Innovation Hub (TiH), under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems. This Technology Innovation Hub is focussed on catalysing state-of-the-art research, development, technology transfers, engagement with industry and entrepreneurial activities. IIITD is also a part of the Delhi Science and Technology cluster and is addressing some of the hyperlocal problems through research.

The Institute has a healthy innovation ecosystem leading to entrepreneurship. The IIITD-Incubation Centre is instrumental in driving growth of entrepreneurial activities at IIITD campus, including providing incubation support, funding, infrastructure, mentoring etc. to students, faculty members and alumni of the Institute. The Incubation Centre is supported by funds from DST, MEITY, and the Delhi government.

IIITD is committed towards Sustainable Development Goals as well. In support of the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development Goals, the Institute hosts an Annual Conclave to create a public platform to discuss the use of information technology for the sustainable development of the national capital region.

Placements

The Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi has successfully concluded the placements for the year 2022. IIIT Delhi placements saw the highest package for B.Tech and M.Tech, standing at INR 47 LPA and INR 29 LPA, respectively. In addition, the average salary package offered to the UG (B.Tech) and PG (M.Tech) courses stood at INR 20.86 LPA and INR 17.41 LPA, respectively. The IIIT Delhi placements and career guidance cell are responsible for all the placement-related activities like summer internship programmes, pre-placement lectures, skill enhancement workshops, campus drives, and other activities.

The official placement report of IIIT Delhi (data taken from NIRF report) 2022 states that 525 UG (4-year programme) and 249 PG (2-year programme) students were placed with a median salary of INR 15 LPA and INR 14 LPA, respectively. Twenty-six students from the UG 4-year programme and three from the PG 2-year programme opted out of IIIT Delhi placements and pursued higher studies. The IIIT Delhi placements and career guidance cell is active and dedicated to providing the best employment opportunities to its students. Placement Process

The steps for conducting the annual placement drive at IIIT Delhi are described below.

• First, the IIIT Delhi placement cell sends invitations and all relevant details for the placement drive to enterprises and organisations.
• Employers must complete the JAF (job announcement form) to recruit students.
• The completed JAFs are sent to the IIIT Delhi placement cell.
• The placement office gives companies dates to conduct the selection process.
• The recruiting organisations will make job offers after completing the selection procedure by qualified students.
• A hard copy of the final list of selected students must be provided to the placement cell.
• The offer letters are handed over to the placement office rather than the candidates.

Scholarship

cholarship for Meritorious Students and Income Linked Fee Waiver Scheme 

IIIT-Delhi has two schemes for fee waiver for Delhi students. These schemes are only for Delhi students. Further details about these and application process etc will be made available later.

A.    Chairman’s Merit Scholarship in BTech admission for top students

Any Delhi students whose JEE rank is less than 2000 will be given a scholarship of Rs 1 lacs / year (which can be adjusted against the fees) for the entire duration of their BTech at IIIT-Delhi, provided they maintain a CGPA of 8.5 or above. (i.e. they will get Chairman’s Scholarship the for the first year. For subsequent years they will get the scholarship if their CGPA is 8.5 or above.)

Note:These students are not eligible for income linked fee waiver scheme of the student.
