ANM or Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery is a two-year diploma programme in the field of Nursing. Interested candidates can apply for an ANM diploma after passing their class 12 exam in Science or Arts stream. The two-year course includes six months of compulsory internship. ANM diploma is the most basic diploma course which can be opted as a starting step towards making a career in the Nursing field. Graduates with ANM diplomas can start their careers by working with community health centres in urban or rural areas.

ANM Admissions Process 

Candidates are admitted to the ANM programme based on their performance on the common admission examinations. Only a few universities provide direct admission based on a student's class 12 grades.

Admissions through Direct Entry

ANM Nursing Eligibility Criteria

  • The minimum age of the candidate should be 17 years on or before 31st December in the year in which admission is sought
  • The maximum age of the candidate should not exceed more than 35 years
  • The candidate should have passed class 12 examination having Arts or Commerce stream (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Economics, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, History, Geography, Business Studies, Accountancy, Home Science, and Philosophy) and English Core/English Elective or Science or Health care Science - Vocational stream from a recognized Board.
